C4I International, in cooperation with thinc., organises a webinar on 19 May 2021 about the role of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and potential war crimes in Judea, Samaria and, in particular, East Jerusalem.

The ICC recently decided to investigate “war crimes committed in the territory of Palestine”. There are two kinds of war crimes it will investigate: (a) crimes concerning the use of force by Israeli and Hamas forces during Gaza conflicts since 2014; and (b) Israel’s “settlements policies” in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

The ICC claims that by enabling Jews to live in East Jerusalem, Israel is committing war crimes. This allegation raises immensely important issues.

This webinar focuses on the role of the ICC and potential war crimes in Judea, Samaria and, in particular, East Jerusalem. The key question is: “Are settlements a war crime?” What is the connection between the recent decisions of the ICC that it has jurisdiction to investigate war crimes in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, and the current situation there? For example, do the potential evictions in Sheikh Jarrah amount to war crimes? Is Israel’s “annexation” of East Jerusalem a war crime?
