UN building, New York

On 28th and 29th June 2017, 24 international lawyers and experts in the field of international law, from 12 nations, convened at the Peace Palace in The Hague to discuss the legal implications of UNSC Resolution 2334 and the 2004 Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). They examined the extent to which this resolution and the Advisory Opinion (on the “Wall”) should be considered to have resolved the long-standing dispute about sovereignty in the so-called “Occupied Territories”. They also discussed whether extant legal doctrine and practice support the conclusions of the Security Council and the ICJ. The summary and conclusions of the conversation were released on 31st October 2017.
